Mini-Game Snapchat Filter
Daniel Robertson, Sufee Yama and I teamed up to create this game for Lenfest 2020 call for creation. Just for context, Lenfest is an annual AR festival hosted by Snapchat. This year's prompt was about the necessary changes needed to protect our planet.
We decided to create a Lens around the idea of saving bees. We saw it as a challenge to educate ourselves about the topic and learned a few things along the way. Bee's are pollinators. Pollination is essential because it contributes to the development of veggies, fruits that we eat. We're not experts, but we wanted to get the conversation started using our platform and skillset.
We kept the game very simple; you tap on bees to throw healing potions to help them recover. Every game you've ever played has had items you could use to replenish your health bar. So people are already familiar with this. Through constant repetition (giving potions to bees), we hoped this would form or create a mental cue where people would associate bees with healing potions. Hopefully, it will inspire people to lean more towards helping them through realistic ways. While the user plays the game, random facts about bees are displayed to educate them and others who see the videos.
